Collection of interesting links in many different categories
There's no way you can possibly see all of the internet, so don't even try. How, then, can you quickly get access to just the stuff you find most interesting? ATEM-IT's pickWEB is a collection of human-curated lists of relevant, intriguing links sorted by category.
Register an account linked to your email with pickWEB first in order to personalize the experience. Pick your desired category from a list of nearly twenty, including a range as broad as Sports, Mass Media, Online Shops, Men's and Women's Interest, and Jobs/Employment (and many more!). Each large category is divided into relevant subcategories; selecting the one that interests you most opens up a browser window with pertinent suggested links. Select any one of them to be taken there right away; add your favorites to a saved list for easy access later.
The "links" tab leads to various useful sites around the internet, such as Wikipedia, online radio, and mailing services. You can also use the "search" feature, which uses Google's engine to perform a web search.
The app is available in several different languages: English, German, French, Russian, and Ukrainian.
Being able to access one's pickWEB account from both a mobile device and a computer is a useful feature. However, all the lists of links are automatically viewed through a browser app, and the site isn't optimized for mobile compatibility. The screen is very far zoomed out, making it nearly impossible to read the text. Even the registration page was very difficult to use via mobile.
Having lists curated by humans instead of bots also has potential, but the links really need a description of the site to accompany the screenshot and title; otherwise, there's no way to know what you're actually clicking on until you get there.
ATEM-IT's pickWEB is a potentially useful resource for people looking to discover new websites, but it needs a revamping of its mobile design, plus more information regarding each link to really be effective.Developer's original description available here
