Poker Guide HD is an easy-to-use tutorial app for learning poker hands, rules and terms
How many times did you teach your friends how to play poker? How many times did you try it with your mom? Times of writing on paper sheet poker hand rank and stop the game to clear terms are gone. Sit newbies in a chair, launch the app and just say them: "take 5 minutes on reading this".
Poker Guide HD goes straight to the point. Three tabs, three features. First off, "poker hands", official poker hand rank in order from best to worst: royal flush, straight flus, four-of-a-kind... Second, basic "poker terms" in alphabetical order: all-in, small/big blind, sit&go, river, push, preflop... All that words that are constantly used on poker parties. Finally, "poker rules" in which you can choose between two poker styles (Texas Hold'em or Five Card Draw). Rules summarized in just a dozen of points, a handful of lines.
We're just missing a "advanced user" tab including strategies, bluffs, odds, percentages, variation... We hope it will be included in coming versions.
This could sound weird due to the simplicity of the app but this is one of the most useful apps we've reviewed. We like when apps make our life easier and Poker Guide HD really does.
“Poker Hands” is an official poker hand rank in order from best to worst. There are many different forms of poker but most form 5 cards and use the same hand rankings. „Royal Flush“ is the highest. „High Card“ is the lowest. These hand rankings are common to many types of poker including: Texas Holdem - the most popular one, Seven card Stud, Omaha, Draw Poker... and many more.
Clicking on a hand displays a short description of the hand, and an animated example of it.
“Poker Rules” screen displays three poker game rules for you choice: Texas Holdem, Omaha or Five Card Draw. Some basic terms have links to “Poker Terms” screen, where player can read a explanation of it.
“Poker Terms” screen explain basic poker terms in alphabetical order.
“Poker Tips” are divided into three levels: beginner, advanced and pro. Each tip will provide you with the useful information, helping you to play better.
“Starting Hand Chart” shows you which hands you should play and how you should play them.

Full of good tips for beginners but nothing that'll make you a pro overnight by any means.
I want to learn how to play poker, found that I want to know more than just rules. Rules are clinical but ap doesn't really tell yow'how' to play.
