"Not a single glance at the stars without your smartphone"

Reviewed by / May 12, 2011

Google Sky Maps uses the Google Maps technology but applied in reverse.

Instead of streets and squares we will be able to see the constellations and planets from our position. That means that if you are in a unintelligently lit city, an underground bunker or anywhere indoor then you will just know what stars you can't view. But if you are luckily outdoor, in a summer night, happily alone o with someone special at your side...then it’s when you can fully embrace the XXIst century and cry out to heaven how cool it’s having a smartphone.

Let me explain. When you point your phone at the sky, the planets and constellations will be shown. You can just browse the sky or look for a specific celestial object.

We dreamt with stuff like this when we were kids. Don't think how useful this app can be.

Think how wonderful it is.

Google Sky Maps needs no further introduction. It’s a reason by itself to buy an Android smartphone.

Had it for two months; use it every chance I can get. LOVE it and am finally learning the rarer constellations I've always wanted to know.

Used to be a great app. I used to impress people with this app and now it's jerky, innacurate and sub par. Read something that google sold it off and who ever took over pooped on it. I didnt want to believe but using it now...well...someone DEFINITELY pooped on it

Really neat idea for an app and it works great! This is a great app for anyone interested in astronomy. Definitely have this in your pocket if you're into astrophotography!

This used to be my favorite app. I loved it on my Evo 3D. Worked "decent" at first on my Note 3, but now it's worthless. I can clearly see where the moon is just by looking up at the sky, but the app shows it elsewhere (just one example). I can see others in the reviews section feel the same. PLEASE fix it.
