Augment - 3D Augmented Reality
100,000 - 500,000 downloads
- Comprehensive use of device camera
- Needs a quite powerful device (tested on a Nexus One)
Preview stuff where they aren't.
Although Augment is one of those apps that's really a challenge to review, it's main reason for existence is rather simple: select a wallpaper (a true wallpaper, we mean a poster), drag and size it to fit somewhere your device camera is looking at. Of course, as all tridimensionality is really a trompe-l'oeil, an illusion, you can replace the concepts "wallpaper" and "wall" for anything else. For example, to pretend there's a brand-new Galaxy II on the table. It really isn't that difficult, just download and print a special mark, set it where you want and play a little.
This app is related to a famous poster retailer. In addition to whatever your imagination decides, you can select and purchase any of their I don't know how many thousands of posters. AugmenteDev has a tutorial at your disposal to skim it through.
Download it if you have a long while to spare squeezing your device camera possibilities, though it can be also useful for interior decorators, set designers and so on.
This app was featured in one of our videoreviews. Watch it here.

Really cool idea and good implementation, just a little fiddly with the rotation. Good dev too, likes to follow up on problems.
The animations jump and lag a lot on the Galaxy S4, but it seems perfectly fine on the iPhone 5, fix this please
it would be good if it diddnt restart my phone every 5 seconds
