Due Mari, meaning “two seas” in Italian, opened its doors in September 2008 to join Chef Michael White and the Altamarea Group family of restaurants. Located in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Due Mari is the counterpart to the other successful New Jersey venture in Bernardsville, Due Terre, meaning “two lands”. Keeping true to its name and Chef White’s authentic Italian cuisine, Mari’s menu is focused on seafood but also specializes in Chef White’s famous handmade pastas and choice grilled meats. A specialty of the house is the seafood towers with a raw bar and oysters. Due Mari also offers award winning pizza.
Upon entering the giant wood double doors of Due Mari, you are greeted by a large circular bar and intimate lighting. Located in the center of the restaurant, this main bar guides guests either towards the tavern area or main dining room. The tavern offers guests a perfect spot to meet friends, watch sporting events, and enjoy a comfortable cocktail or bite to eat. Here you can select from the tavern menu, which offers selections ranging from sandwiches, salads and salumi-platters to Due Mari’s homemade pizza. The main dining room has a more elegant setting in earth tones and wood with semi-private dining sections tucked around corners and behind barriers and frosted glass. Due Mari’s ambiance is both causal enough for a fun evening and fancy enough for special occasions.
Under the tutelage of Manging Partner, Francois Rousseau, Due Mari’s staff are knowledegable; warm and friendly; and are enthusiastic about food and wine. Each member of the team strives to make your evening a memorable one ensuring you experience Due Mari’s culinary journey to the fullest.
