Help us improve the quality of internet access in Rwanda!
Living in Rwanda, we've been frustrated by highly inconsistent internet access. BitRanks is an effort to determine what sort of service delivery one can expect from the various providers in the country.
The way it works is every time you run a speed test using this app, the results are anonymously shared with the public so we can show what the actual internet speed is for typical users in Rwanda. The results viewable at http://bitranks.com.
If you have a data plan that allows it, you can also configure the app to run speed tests periodically throughout the day. The more data we collect the more powerful a message we can send to the internet providers and regulatory agencies in Rwanda.
This is an open source project, you can download the server and client code over at http://github.com/nyaruka/sigtrac.
Thanks for helping and we hope you get involved. :)
