EasyTether Lite allows you to use your smartphone connection to navigate on your computer
First off, uninstall the Lite version from your smartphone before upgrading.
You just need to enable 3G/4G/WiFi connection on your smartphone and connect it to your computer via USB. Then, you have to choose the OS running on your computer to avoid incompatibilities and start surfing the web (Windows 7/Vista/XP-64 bit/XP-32 bit., Mac OS 10.4-10.7, Ubuntu, Fedora supported). It doesn't need either root access either advanced configuration. It's for all audiences. However, it allows you to set DNS in case you have to.
The main flaw of this app is that the developer blocks HTTPS, Instant messengers and game console thethering on the Lite version. The only way to unblock these features is upgrading to the full version ($9.99). And it has to be said that it's far from being cheap. Given that there are other Tethering apps that doesn't block it (and which are free), it has no sense.
Anyway, this pro version allows you to do interesting features: full access to https for secure sites as facebook, gmail, banking, etc. It allows tether to ps3, xbox360, wii via your PC.
We wish, Mobile Stream, the developer of this app will re-think this way of making money with his app. Besides that, the app works great.

"EasyTether Pro takes your hand and walks you gently into Tetherland. You'll be tethering with this app for years to come, as long as your carrier still offers unlimited data. While the setup prcoess may be a bit tricky for the least tech savvy, most users will be up and tethering in no time. Tether on my friends. 9.5/10" - Ben Freed, App Rundown
"While EasyTether involves a bit more work than rooted tether apps, it is a nice solution for people that can't or don't want to root their phones." - Ed Clark, Androinica
"Overall, EasyTether is a great app to have. It is very useful and since it is USB enabled it will not drain your battery. The speed is excellent even though it is coming from a smartphone. I suggest that you go Pro for $9.99 just because it will allow you to access websites that you will probably need to access anyway (HTTPS)." - The Good Find
Bluetooth support for Windows is now official
It keeps turning off for few seconds but it does get me online but very very short time.
I purchased the full version about 4 years ago. It was easier to configure at first. Now you just have to be very methodical when trying to setup etc. Because carriers are hip to it I think they try to curb use of these apps. If it doesn't work try user agent string, try purchasing Hotspot ($5 on metro) only with the third party you never run out of data, even try buying a brand new data transfe
I have had it 2 years and it has never worked. Every week I follow the instructions ti copy the file over and activate it and it always says "Setup Failed" it has never worked even once. I have a Galaxy Note II, and nobody seems to give any reason
Three UK introduced a tethering cap of 4GB earlier this year. Using this app has allowed me to circumvent this. The data used appears on my phone as part of the app, which might be how this avoids the tethering restriction. In short, great app, also used it to connect my Xbox One using ethernet and I'm sure I could also make it into a wireless hotspot using my macbook pro 2012.
Been using this for years, works like a charm.
