You just need to enable 3G/4G/WiFi connection on your smartphone and connect it to your computer via USB. Then, you have to choose the OS running on your computer to avoid incompatibilities and start surfing the web (Windows 7/Vista/XP-64 bit/XP-32 bit., Mac OS 10.4-10.7, Ubuntu, Fedora supported). It doesn't need either root access either advanced configuration. It's for all audiences. However, it allows you to set DNS in case you have to.
The main flaw of this app is that the developer blocks HTTPS, Instant messengers and game console thethering on the Lite version. The only way to unblock these features is upgrading to the full version ($9.99). And it has to be said that it's far from being cheap. Given that there are other Tethering apps that doesn't block it (and which are free), it has no sense.
We wish, Mobile Stream, the developer of this app will re-think this way of making money with his app. Besides that, the app works.

Works perfect, just as described. Great work around to Virgin Mobile's tethering restrictions. Will be buying the full version!! Works great on my Windows 8 laptop and HTC Evo 3d. Wish I could give more than 5 stars for this!

I suspect carriers and not the app are the problem. I have the paid version and unlimited data with Sprint and it worked fine til recently. I looked up easy tether pro (for an update) in marketplace and it says its not covered by my carrier.
