"The portable version of the well-known browser Mozilla Firefox"

Reviewed by: Emmanuel Lund / May 09, 2011

Mozilla Firefox 4 is a web browser for Android which is aimed to be one of the most complete navigators.

Despite some users are still preferring the default Android browser, some other consider that it has been overtaken for many other browsers. One of them is Mozilla Firefox 4 which in its new release has fixed some past mistakes and improved its whole performance.

We have noticed great improvements regarding, firts, its “awesome bar”, a friendly user browse bar with auto-filling, bookmarks, matching search engine and cache. Moreover, the design and interface has been also improved: more space for the website instead by reducing the browse bar size and the number of navigation buttons (by using the “Firefox” button). One of its strengths is the Tab organizer that avoid the annoying situation of having a lot of windows open (killing out battery life). But if one point has been improved is its velocity: the navigation speed becomes up to 6 times faster than the previous version (and we really noticed it!). It is still high-customizable (in fact, it was yet). About security is probably one of the best web browser: anti-virus is included as well as anti-pishing, secure connection, website identification among many other security tools. Lastly, about compatibility, it optimizes HTML5, supports HD video, 3D graphics, more fonts...

The main catch: it doesn’t include Flash Player by default but the developers assure that it will be in the next version. Moreover, some users have reported high consumption of data and battery life, as well as excessive use of RAM memory. Some crashes and forceclosing has also reported (and we’ve noticed it too).

Mozilla Firefox 4 for Android has been developed by Mozilla, the web browser Mozilla Firefox for PC’s and Thunderbird e-mailing provider with which they’ve been really successful.

Despite it doesn’t include Flash Player by default and the crashes reported, we regard Mozilla is a great web browser, one of the best you will get in your Android. And we would like to see these problems solved asap. Anyway, what it’s true is that the navigation speed, interface and usability has been improved and for that reason we recommend you to give it a chance.
