Single SMS

This app helps to filter duplicate SMS.

Some phones (for example some Galaxy Nexus) suffer from receiving duplicate SMS, and this app filter and emit the ones that already have one copy in the inbox with same sent date and content.

Required RECEIVE_SMS permission to get the SMS before the system message app do, and READ_SMS to get to the inbox to know whether one message is already there. No more permission needed, no ROOT needed.

Personally I think the problem of duplicate SMS are caused by phones failed to reply the provider server that they have received the SMS, so the provider server keep sending.

This app has an UI just to register itself onto your system's hook, just install it and start it once and you would have gotten rid of the duplicate sms problems and it will just make a toast when one sms is filtered.
