"Challenging settled browsers hegemony"

Reviewed by / Mar 28, 2012

Sleipnir Mobile is a web browser for Android OS with interesting features

Sleipnir Mobile is a browser that came to become a real alternative to other settled browser. It's offering some reliable features that make the difference. First off, it's really focus on multi-tasking. For this reason, it allows you to operate multiple pages quickly and easily. Why? Thanks to a bottom bar in which you can see thumbnails of open pages. Just tap on the thumbnail to switch from one to another. What's more, in this bottom bar there's a search button that by default searches on Google.

Gestures is the other great feature of this browser: touchpaging lets you switch tabs just by flicking side to side. You can also close tabs "gesturing" a "L", restore currently close tabs with an "U", display search bar with an "S", and many more.

First time you launch Sleipnir it asks you to sync bookmarks. You can do it whenever you want though and manage them with default folder or FenrirFS. There's a handy grid homescreen from where you can access all that sites.

You can also check out download history.

From settings you can clear cache and history, enable/disable zoom button, scroll grip, enable hold&go, plugins and display modes. We're missing User Agent, bottom bar in horizontal view and other features. However, and above all, what we are missing is more fluency: it doesn't run as smooth as we expected. We encourage its developers, Fenrir Inc., to fix this issue, since it affects directly the usability of the browser.

Besides these catches, it's worth to give a go because of gestures, functional tabs and multi-pages view.

Always considered this the best Android browser out there until they changed the search engine to Bing in the last update with no way to change it. Time to check out other browsers again. ........... And here we are a month later and the search engine is still Bing despite every recent review in the play store complaining about it. Apparently the developer is not interested in happy users and jus

I used Sleipnir on all my devices, PC included, until the default search engine was recently changed from Google to Bing. Now Sleipnir is terrible because Bing is worse than useless! There is no way for users to change the search engine back to Google (or to anything besides Bing). Developers pay attention & please fix this! Almost all the new reviews make this same complaint! I've been using this as my default browser for a long time and there are a lot of things I really like but I had to lower my rating for being forced into using Bing. At least give us the option to revert back to Google.

Sad to see it like this. The bing inclusion is horrible as bing normally doesnt return right results and it tends to crash alot now.
