We've tried lots of browsers for Android and we've to admit that there are really good ones. However, first time we tried UC Browser we felt something different. It's like the others wouldn't have not fully grasped the essence of what a mobile browser should be. UC Browser did. This feeling of toying with truly native mobile browser makes the difference, and makes us understand that million of downloads (and 300 million users around the World).
First off, its scenery. It's set in a sober grey and good-looking layout. Its interface has been simplified to make it understandable even for kids: few and clear buttons that, however, allows you to perform all its features. Simplicity and usability are its strongest points.
It supports multitouch: you can open, close, switch, going backwards and forwards just by swiping your fingers. Its "Home" page is one of the most simple and accessible we've seen. You can add as many shortcuts as you want and access them by tapping on the heart icon. Tap on the clock icon to see history (recently closed and most visited) and tap on the book icon for rss reading (you can set the sources, called channels). Likewise you can enter URL on the browser bar or choose the source (Google, Bing, Yahoo...) in the search bar.
It supports speech-to-text with an interesting system called VOX (voice control) that takes you to your destination automatically. Well, its performance could be enhanced, although it is not an essential feature so far.
Best of all: it's awesomely fast. It uses cloud acceleration to optimize web surfing. This way websites load much faster. The kernel is constantly enhanced. Navigation is even better thanks to features like auto-focus, that remove bothering elements like ads and focus on the content that matters with no need to zoom in/out, just one tap.
In a nutshell, UC Browser merges usability, simplicity, fast navigation and good-looking layout. It's what a mobile browser should be.
