The GMIT Energy application provides an introduction to the renewable energy technologies available in the Energy Lab in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT). It is an easy to use application for those who want to learn more about the benefits of renewable energy technologies.
With GMIT Energy you will be able to identify the main components of various sustainable energy systems with which the GMIT Energy lab is equipped (i.e. solar, biomass, heat pumps, and wind), see how they work and/or get more information about each component.
A cost benefit calculator is provided to help you identify – based on your home specifications – the cost of installing and running a heat pump compared to a traditional oil boiler and the payback time.
