The Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts, or Kungliga Akademien för de fria konsterna, was founded in 1735 and is one of the Royal Academies in Sweden. The Academy is an independent organization, which acts to promote painting, sculpting, building and the other visual arts. The Academy's initial objective is to promote the development in Sweden of paint, carving and building art and other visual art forms. That task includes managing the own house at Fredsgatan 12 in Stockholm and a larger number of endowments as well as running a library, conducting exhibitions, organizing lectures and also have some publishing operations.
