THE READERVILLE PARK APP - YOU’LL LOVE THE NEW IMPROVEMENTS!
Now that you’ve completed the activities for WELCOME TO READERVILLE, you are ready for the READERVILLE PARK. These are the activities included in the READERVILLE PARK APP:
LEVEL 1: TAP AND TELL LETTER SOUNDS AND SIGHT WORDS - This activity will introduce 4 new letter sounds and 4 new sight words. Your child will tap each sound to hear it and to see it in various forms. The goal is to know the sound, before tapping to check your answer. This could take a few days. Tap and Tell Sight Words works in the same way. Once your child knows all of the sounds and sight words, he or she is ready for level 2.
LEVEL 2: PHONETIC WORDS—HIDE AND SEEK
The words used in this game are made from the 4 letter sounds learned in level one and the five letter sounds learned in “WELCOME TO READERVILLE.” Your child will sound out the word on Zing’s wagon, look for the picture hidden in the park scene, and drag the picture into the wagon. Once all of the hidden pictures have been successfully dragged to the wagon, Zing will praise your child and a “play again” button will appear. Your child should continue to play the game once or twice a day for a few days until he or she can sound out each word with ease.
LEVEL 3: READ THE COMICS
Each comic includes sentences made from the 8 sight words (4 from this app and 4 from the previous app) and phonetic words learned in level 2. A sentence will appear in flashcard form at the top of the screen. Your child will: 1. Attempt to read the sentence. 2. Tap the word cards to check his or her reading. 3. Tap the sun to see the comic panel. 4. Read 4 sentences to make the entire comic. 5. Try to read the comic. 6. Tap each panel to have it read aloud. There are 3 different comics. You’ll find 7 more comics in the “MY COMICS” section of the app.
**THE IMPROVEMENTS TO THE READERVILLE PARK**
We have taken all of your comments into consideration and have made several great improvements. The “READERVILLE PARK” APP now includes 10 comic strips for more reading practice. Also, we’ve added a link from the app for free access to the premium content on our website. The web content includes everything you need to successfully help your child become a great and confident reader. From the website, you can view or print the INTERACTIVE GUIDE PDF from the “Teaching Tools” box. The GUIDE will help you make each lesson fun, memorable, and meaningful. The GUIDE will instruct you on how and when to use the other PDFs in the “Teaching Tools” box. The tools included are flashcards, a phonics game, and story cards for more reading practice. Also included are 4 mini-movies. Your child can watch each one as indicated in the GUIDE. The movies teach the letter sounds, sight words, and phonetic words that will be presented in this unit, “THE READERVILLE PARK.” Have fun!
