The latest edition of the incredibly popular game The Sims was released in June 2009, and it featured several changes and improvements. Open, continuous neighborhoods and "moodlets" make the game that much more lifelike, and players now have more options than ever when it comes to creating and controlling the lives of their Sims. Some players, no doubt, like to wander aimlessly through the game, figuring things out as they go. For players who really want the inside scoop, however, there's The Sims 3: Prima Official eGuide. This 255-page e-book provides detailed information about every aspect of The Sims 3.
We admit that we were a bit skeptical at first; we've reviewed other electronic publications and have found more often than not that they're a poorly done attempt on the part of the author to make a quick buck. This guide, however, is the real deal. Prima is an imprint of Random House, and author Catherine Browne definitely knows her stuff. Browne's style is friendly and engaging, and her enthusiasm for The Sims 3 is evident in her prose. With loving detail Browne walks readers through every aspect of the game, from creating a Sim and customizing his or her appearance to managing careers and relationships. The guide comes in its own reader that has tabs at the top of each page, allowing users to easily skip between sections. We found The Sims 3: Prima Official eGuide to be a well-written, comprehensive Bible for The Sims 3.
