Cult movies, comic books, indie rock, sci-fi, '80s greats, sweet links, general weirdness -- this is all the stuff of Pop Candy.

Whitney Matheson writes about what she loves in pop culture, and she tries to get to it before everyone else dives in, chews it up and spits it out. Wanna know what new series to DVR tonight? Which bands are worth the iTunes splurge? Is there a toothpaste that will keep your mouth plaque-free? (OK, so she can't help you with everything. But she tries.)

In addition to daily posts, Pop Candy delivers exclusive interviews, Twitter updates, music, video and other features. But really, it's the community that completes Pop Candy: As you'll discover, it's a very friendly place with many diverse and knowledgable people. Together, readers party at meet-ups around the country. They create comics and things. They get to know each other virtually.

Feedback and story tips are always welcome at popcandy@usatoday.com.

It would be nice if the app was not limited. Why can't I check in and blog?

I was excited to find there was an app for Pop Candy that I could load on my brand new phone. I installed it and it worked only the first time. Now, whenever I open it, it tells me that I'm not connected, even though I know I am. I can browse the Internet just fine, yet this app NEVER connects or works. Disappointing...
