The map illustrates the U.S. median household income in 2010. Median household income for the U.S. in 2010 is $54,442, down very slightly from the 2009 figure of $54,719. Information for the 2010 Median Household Income is an estimate of income for calendar year 2010.
Income amounts are expressed in current dollars, including an adjustment for inflation or cost-of-living increases. The median is the value that divides the distribution of household income into two equal parts.
