Fibroids are benign growths of smooth muscle of the uterus. They are not precancerous, however, they can cause symptoms. Some symptoms of fibroids include abdominal pain and heavy vaginal bleeding. They can be treated with hormonal medications or surgery if they are extremely bothersome.
A calcified fibroid can be more dense and hard than other fibroids. If the fibroid is inside the lining of the uterus then a hysteroscopic myomectomy is possible.
