Since the arrival of Apple Watch and Android Wear smartwatches, heart rate monitor apps have been on the rise on both the App Store and the Play Store. With Cardiograph, developer Macropinch looks to change things up. Instead of being smartwatch-only, this app uses your Android smartphone’s or tablet’s camera or sensor (lower end users are left out) to measure your heart rate in real-time and track your progress over time. You can also create multiple profiles to track your family’s and friends’ progress over time.
Cardiograph looks and feels beautiful; the UI is intuitive, polished, and very clean, making for a very easy-to-use and visually stunning heart rate monitor. It’s also free to try out, so you don’t lose anything when you download.
Cardiograph has spent more time on making the UI look beautiful than any actual time on making the app work. The heart rate is woefully inaccurate and tends to throw in or take away your real beats per minute.
