Use My Tracks while you run, ride, hike or whatever you want to do outdoors. My Tracks use GPS to record the path you took. It's better if you use network and GPS for a more accurate tracking. It will take your data and gather statistics about your time, speed, distance or elevation. What's more you upload that info to Google My Maps, Google Fusion Tables or Google Docs. When you do so, you have to set a track name and type (city/running for instance). You can add a description too.
You can also share your tracks via Twitter or Facebook to challenge your friends and yourself. What's more, you can check your tracks out on Google Maps web version, make them public or share it with your friends.
Besides your built-in Android GPS, you can track from other external sensors: Zephyr, ANT Heart Rate, and others (take a glance at developer's changelog to know which ones are supported).
MyTracks has been developed by My Tracks Team at Google, this is the only app they've launched on the market.
The idea is fantastic, but the app doesn't work as good as we expected. It forcecloses in some devices, it isn't accurate enough and needs a "pause" button to let the user stop the tracking when he/she wants, and not when they stop.
