THE VERDICT

Do you know everything about what you eat? Open Food Facts is an open database (meaning anyone in the world can add to it) that compiles information about all types of food. You can search for food products by scanning the barcode or by typing in the name or reference code into the search bar. What you'll find is an wide range of information related to the ingredients, allergens, and production process of said product.

THE PROS

More and more people are suffering from food intolerance. Being able to consult the allergens or ingredients of a food product could save lots of time fumbling around the supermarket. With this database you can perform a quick check of the relevant information, wherever you are.

THE CONS

The database isn't exhaustive, so you may not find a product that's less common. Being an open database, though, you could always add the product yourself.
