All who know me know that I'm a frustrated Z-film scriptwriter who channels his Z-frustration fiercely criticizing those Z-films he doesn't like and singing the praises of those which are worse but he likes better. By the way, I write now and then about z-stuff, to the point of wasting two AndroidZoom articles in it a time ago (here and there)
Of course, I have an AppsZoom alert with the word "zombie" written in caps, so every time a new z-whatever app is born I get an email at the end of the week with it. That's how I find Zombies, Run! And that's how I was scared when I saw it's sold for 7,50$. In addition, workout and me fell out months ago, so if zombiemaggedon were going to be tomorrow, I'd be considered slightly more than zombie breakfast.
However, I have always liked to have the role of the survivor who not only saves his life, but also helps other survivors and, thanks to the united skills of all the team -leaded by moi- create an oasis of life in the midst of an undead sea. By the way, the blonde amazon would fall in love with me and...well, you know the film. If not, ask Romero.
Zombies, Run is worth its price only if you need motivation. If you are an innate jogger (oxymoron) you won't need this app, save your bucks for your next trainers instead. Howsoever, if you want to run but your favorite sentence is "joggin' for jogging's sake is nonsense" here's your app. It doesn't matter if you are a man or a woman, the only required condition is that you are alive and are willing to continue that way.
Zombies, Run! comes with 30 workout routines, each one in the form of a mission. As you jog, you receive orders and listen to events happening around you. You get virtual items (as in a geocatching game) and, once you get home, you can spend them to improve your base. By "items" we also mean survivors or stuff. You can play your own music or choose it from some given tracks.
I don't know if the price and zombie combo are incentive enough to stop putting off your eternal New Year resolution. I love it, and I'd like there were more missions, because I don't know if I will continue jogging once I save mankind. Fortunately, missions are replayable. I'd also like that it wasn't an absolute battery drainer, but that's endemic of GPS based apps (in the end, if you were to go out into a z-infected city, you will make sure your device runs full of battery, won't you?). Don't forget your headphones and thank the developer when you win the next neighborhood race.
