Transcend gives users real time feedback about the quality of their meditation using actual neurofeedback data gathered using the MindWave Mobile headset (required).

Transcend not only aids in the learning of effective meditation, but allows users to track and improve meditation practices over time by reporting the quality and duration of the user’s meditation, as well as other helpful metrics. Using these metrics, Transcend can tell when a user is successfully achieving meditative states regularly or whether a user may benefit from an alternative form of meditation. By measuring and recording meditative states, a user can track his or her progress and receive confirmation that practice is effective.

Unlike other meditation apps available today, Transcend directly measures neural activity and takes into account the different ways that people meditate. There are meditation guides for users new to the practice, or users looking to try a different style.

Transcend and the benefits of meditation

Transcend is a meditation assistance application focused on improving the user’s meditation experience and providing faster and more comprehensive insights into the benefits of meditation practice.

Transcend:

• Details the quality of the current mediation session
• Tracks progress from past meditation sessions
• Suggests when an alternative form of meditation may be more beneficial

Regular meditation:

• Normalizes blood pressure
• Reduces anxiety
• Lowers stress levels

Transcend requires the use of a NeuroSky MindWave Mobile Headset.

A nice idea but the interface needs a lot of work. When meditating, the meditation object (a candle that dims and brightens to indicate the depth of your meditation) occupies only a small window at the top of the screen. This makes it difficult to place at a distance where you eyes might naturally fall when meditating. Also, there's all sorts of other things going on on the meditation screen - a s

It'd be good to be able to see some graphs of experienced mediators in order to compare how I'm going.

Doesn't work in the background together with Insight Timer. Doesn't allow a meditation of more than 30 minutes. I'm really upset with myself I threw away 5 dollars on this. Had to go with brain wave LLM even though Transcend is supposed to be aimed at meditation.

This fading candle image is not really helpful. I could use a feedback when my attention falls. A gong or something like this. Besides most people meditate with their eyes closed...

This app is crap considering it has a quarter of the functionality of other apps that are free... for 5$ they could of given u some actual choices... the pc neurosky stores products that sell for 5$ like dagaz should make the developer ashamed... upgrade this peice of crap to something besides showing u a real time graph of ur meditation value... something other software does much more pleasantly

Useful for getting feedback on meditative states. The voice however is not calming... sounds like I am in a meditative race To get 5 stars I would want a way of seeing all the brain signals theta delta etc + way of integrating own relaxation mp3s. I hope these come in the future
