"Cook Your Way To Yumminess with Dinner Spinner"

Reviewed by / Feb 26, 2015

Watch step-by-step video recipes to turn from novice to professional in no time

THE VERDICT

With thousands of user-submitted recipes that change every day, it's easy to find a dish you like for every meal. Filter by dietary requirement and ingredients to use up what's left in the fridge or 'spin' for a random treat. Though aimed at a US market, Allrecipes is a great tool for budding chefs the world over.

THE PROS

The recipes are inventive and tailored to every skill level, while the video tutorials--ideal for a beginner--are produced to a high quality. Saving recipes means easy access to your favourites and the in-built shopping list is a handy extra. The 30 million members mean that there'll be something for every cuisine here.

THE CONS

Some ingredients are hard to find outside of the US, and a few of the best recipes are hidden behind a paywall. Of course, the recipes are not 100% reliable, but the reviews help you pick out the good ones.

Developer's original description available here
You asked for more help in the kitchen. Allrecipes.com answered. Dinner Spinner Pro gives you full access to the world’s #1 recipe site from your Android phone. And now Dinner Spinner makes home cooking even easier, giving you the power to scan grocery items for recipe searches and shopping lists.

Can you give us a way to scan grocery items with our phone, to put into recipe searches and shopping lists?
Allrecipes.com: Done and done! Scan any grocery item and you can add it permanently to the spinner, search for recipes with that item, or add it to any of your shopping lists.

Can you add a sign-in box so we can get to our Recipe Boxes?
Allrecipes.com: No problem! The Pro version lets you browse and save new recipes to your online Recipe Box.

We’d love to be able to search all recipes on the site.
Allrecipes.com: Done. Now, browse the entire selection of recipes to find your favorites or discover new ones.

How about giving us a way to search using specific ingredients?
Allrecipes.com: You got it! Include or exclude up to eight ingredients to narrow your recipe search. You can type in ingredients or scan them. See the tasty dinner you can make with that big can of tomatoes in your pantry.

Recipe app fans: We would love an easy way to share recipes.
Allrecipes.com: We’ve made it easier than ever. Post to Facebook, tweet to Twitter, or email your favorite recipes to friends.

Recipe app fans: We want to be able to create shopping lists.
Allrecipes.com: Now, you can! Access your existing shopping lists, create new ones, and even share them. Dinner Spinner Pro is also smart enough to combine the same ingredients from different recipes.

Recipe app fans: Our time is valuable—we’d rather not spend it looking at ads.
Dinner Spinner Pro: We heard you. No more ads!

More Dinner Spinner Pro perks:

· A “kitchen view” makes it easier to see recipes while cooking.
· You can change the number of servings on any recipe.
· Your shopping list automatically updates when you change the number of servings in a recipe on your list, check off grocery items or add to your list as you shop.

I have found a few apps with a lot of good italian recipes out there, now I need to actually make a few and stop looking at them on the internet or my phone, haha.

Got the Pro to sync with my recipe box and that has worked well on my smartphone. But just got a Nexus 7 tablet and it comes up as not compatible. Bummer! 4 or 5 stars if that were not the case. Update. Got a new Galaxy 5 and it won't install. How stupid!!!!

I loved this app on my iPhone but I switched to a galaxy S5 and it is not the same. I can not use my recipe box or shopping list, I can't even see them. All this app has for the the galaxy s5 is the spinner. And that is not very useful to me, I spent $2.99 for this application and it's just a dressed up version of the free app. Please fix to support all phones. If you make us pay for it make it

I had this on the iPhone and it worked fine. Got Galaxy, paid for App, and features are not the same. You cannot access recipes, only add to the online view. Same for shopping list!! (are you going to take your laptop with you shopping.... should be the other way around, add them on-line, and pull up your shopping list). Contacted them, they won't refund it.... Finally, the Dinner Spinner... abs

I love the shopping list on this device. It organizes so when in a store, you can check off all items based on aisle you are in.

Recipes should not take 5 seconds to load on a 20 mbps connection. Seems like a ploy to make me watch your advertisements for other recipes. You're giving me your recipe advertisements after searching and then after clicking on a search result. I paid for the app because I like the content. You don't need to waste a paid subscriber's time with trying to get me to discover more. Roll this back to h
