More than just an alarm clock, the Happy to Bed app is designed to help you find your ideal bedtime and make the most of it. Based on your individual sleep cycles and chosen wake-up time it will remind you each night of the ideal time to start unwinding and also give you handy hints and tips on how to do it.
ABOUT SLEEP CYCLES
We all think a good night’s sleep means ‘8 hours’, but it’s actually to do with the way we sleep. Our sleep is made up of blocks of around 90 minutes called ‘sleep cycles’. It’s best to always wake up at the end of a sleep cycle rather than part way through. Otherwise you’ll feel groggy and tired no matter how much sleep you’ve had.

Happy to Bed isn’t about sleep, it’s about finding time to wind down before bedtime. Maybe that’s reclaiming the fun bedtimes from your childhood or just spending more time in your bedroom like you did when you were a teenager. It can be anything from a picnic in bed to a pillow fight. Whatever puts a smile in your face.
HOW IT WORKS
Set the time you want to get up and the app will tell you the best time to go to sleep. Then, when it’s time to start winding down, it will send you a reminder alongside a suggestion of what to do so you are most relaxed come bedtime. As everyone’s sleep cycles are different, we’ve also added a sleep cycle monitor. It uses your phone’s accelerometer to read your movements during the night and work out how long your sleep cycles are. You’ll only have to do this once, then the app is personalised to you.
