This is not the first application that attempts to recognize the songs that sound around. But it is the first to get it well and really fast. A few seconds are enough to give you the information in a very comprehensive: album, lyrics, artist, whatever, everything.
We've made the first test with a song of a well known Finnish group, moving the phone closer to a baffle. Four seconds later we had the song's name, group, album, year and lyrics. Then we decided to increase the difficulty, humming a song to the phone instead. We picked "When the saints go marchin' in". We had to try it twice because everybody was laughing around, but at the end SoundHound decided that was Louis Armstrong's who was humumuming so bad.
You can also check a title or band name out by making searches speaking and read biographies. Also if you want to, your location is saved along your request, so you can remember where you heard this or that song. Finally, you can redefine controls to start recording pressing a hardware button instead of tapping the screen.
This paid version hasn't ads and helps its developer. In any case, unlimited use and results have been very satisfactory. It has become an instantly must-have.
