The best way yet to discover and enjoy new music - for any time, taste, or place
Everyone knows the feeling of struggling to find the appropriate soundtrack for the moment, whether it's for at the office or at the beach, for working out or making out. Sometimes your worn out personal music library just doesn't cut it anymore, and you're in desperate need of some fresh beats. The popular Pandora is one solution, but it's not available internationally, and the library of artists is limited. Enter 8tracks, the mixtape sharing method that's shortly to become your favorite way of listening to music.
Filter through over 1 million user-generated playlists by artist, tags, or keywords. This can be as concrete as "Devendra Banhart" or "free jazz," or you can find appropriate lists for your mood and activity with searches as abstract as "staring at the ceiling," "autumn morning," and/or "whiskey." If you want music to match it, chances are great that someone else has put together a playlist, which other users can rank and comment upon. You can also take your own spin as a DJ and upload personalized playlists for others to enjoy.
Save your favorite lists to your profile for quick access later. 8tracks will also analyze your taste and recommend related lists accordingly. You can follow specific users if you find super talented mix artists, and you can also save your favorite individual tracks to a list that links to playable YouTube/SoundCloud clips.
8tracks is set up to be a 100% legal way for you to listen to music whenever, wherever. It's also completely devoid of ads and totally free to use. The navigation is intuitive and clean, and it quietly (or loudly, if you crank up the volume!) runs in the background of your device. The only caveat has to do with data streaming - you may want to ensure you've got a wi-fi signal, or else you'll insidiously chew away at your data plan as you groove.
I couldn't recommend 8tracks any more strongly - these days, it's almost exclusively what I use to listen to music. I have no doubt you'll find yourself quickly addicted as well.
8tracks Radio provides the best music for any taste, time & place.

Once registered, you’ll be able to favorite tracks, like or comment on mixes, and follow DJs. While we don’t support mix creation on the app, you can head to 8tracks.com to create a playlist to share with others, using tracks from your personal collection or your favorites from SoundCloud.
Now it’s time to find a mix that’s just right for your tastes, whatever you’re doing and however you’re feeling. Tap the Home icon to open navigation options, then search for mixes by tag, artist, DJ or description. On the results page, add more tags to refine your search or sort the results by trending, newest or popular.
Once you tap on a mix, you’ll arrive at the mixpage, which includes title, cover art, and a count of “plays” and “likes” to date. The current track is displayed along with player controls at the bottom of the screen, and the star icon allows you to Favorite it.
Like & share
The heart icon allows you to Like (bookmark) the mix for later, and you can instantly Share it with friends via text, email, Twitter or Facebook. If you don’t like what you hear, click Next mix to jump to another playlist.
Click on a DJ’s name or avatar on any mixpage to check out the DJ’s profile, which includes basic info (location, short bio, Twitter handle, website), stats (mixes, followers, following), and a list of all mixes published by that DJ. Click Follow to add a DJ’s mixes to your mix feed.

Songs skip every minute or two. Totally interrupts your concentration when studying. Tried using the Web version, won't even play!
The service good but the app finds a way to stay up and playing when i don't explicitly stop and kill the app. This app will eat up a lot of your data and power.
I like the variety of playlists available, but it looks like this program keeps trying to start up on its own. When I go to unlock my phone, sometimes I'll see the play controls even though I don't have the app running.
I love the app and use it a lot. Unfortunately anyway, the lock screen often starts showing the 8track controls as the app was up and running, even if it's not. I know I can disable this functionality altogether, but I find it useful during normal use, so
It always says no internet connection when my internet is clearly at full bars. It's kinda lame that I have to just use data for this app.
Great, sometimes cuts off! !
This is pretty good app but the lock screen widget randomly pops up even though I don't have 8 tracks on. It's annoying to log in and shut down. Even then it keeps popping back up from time to time.
