Astro Player is a full-featured media player
Streaming music might be the future, but some users still prefer playing their own local media files, not depending on any network or mobile data connection. If that's your case, you've come to the right place.
Astro Player allows you to play music, video, podcasts, audiobooks and even radio stations from your mobile device. It supports lots of audio and video formats (mp3, mp4, 3gp, ogg, flac, wav, mid...) and features different tools to get a high-end music experience. Let's name some of them.
Astro Player scans your media library on first launch and organizes it automatically by media type, artists, album and genre. Navigate through Astro Player's built-in file explorer and select any media file located on your SDcard to play it.
Playlists? Of course - create as many as you want, using any media file located on your mobile device. Bookmarks are also supported to provide a quick access to your favorite tracks.
If you are concerned about sound, set it according to your whim using the equalizer and the sound controls. Adjust specific parameters for video, playlists, postcasts and other media files just exactly as you please.
You can literally get lost within the incredible variety of settings. Tweak almost everything: cover art, lyrics (MusiXMatch integration), playback speed, tag scanner, headseat response, hotkeys and actions, backup options... Actually, that last one is quite important: once you've tweaked your Astro Player to your liking, you can keep all your preferences safe on your SDcard by selecting auto-backups.
Astro Player also supports radio streaming. The amount and variety of radio stations should be improved, but it's definitely nice having the chance to take a break from your music and discover new artists for a change of pace.
The only catch of Astro Player is its design: it feels too much like a "file explorer". It should be more visual, add some transition effects and gestures for friendlier navigation.
Regardless, Astro Player is a full-featured media player with almost everything you could possibly need to play your media files locally.

Really sloppy. First, I had to pay again for the same app after they re-released with in-app purchasing. Will not support this developer again due to those business practices. Second, the app is a borderline mess. My playback speed settings don't stick. I can't delete a file directly from the currently playing list. The widgets have gotten worse since the old version and no functionality has b
Would like to have on note 4.
I have bought another tablet and installed Astro Player on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 tablet. It plays all the songs (mp3, wma, etc.) I am very happy. The Arc 7 ( Kobo) tablet/eReader is not working with this music app. Kobo, you are toast.
