"ICS-Native Music Player"

Reviewed by / May 29, 2012

GoneMAD is a music player set in an ICS layout and with lots of features

GoneMAD is a handy music player with some interesting features. First time you launch the app it asks you to scan your local to set up your library. Keep in mind that this is a music player only for local music, you won't be able to play your music in the cloud.

GoneMAD it's been set in HOLO-layout (ICS), swipable top bar to access streams. From there you can access GoneMAD main features. Thus, you can search music by artist, album, genre or song title just by swiping right, navigating through tabs. You can also search by typing what you're looking for. However, from settings you can change the skin. By default it brings HOLO dark, classic silver and classic cyanogen.

Unlike others, GoneMAD brings an in-app file browser which can be useful to play your mp3 from its folder (if you don't want to scan them automatically and add it your library).

Likewise, it brings a complete equalizer with some presets. If you want to set it at your whim, do it freely. You can set balance, preamp and many other parameters. Once done you can save it as preset. Finally, you can create as many playlist as you want and customize its performance from preferences: lockscreen player, headset, scrobbler... It includes up to 6 different size widgets.

A complete and good-looking music player. Recommendable.

Bought my first android device the other day (Archos 70 IT 250 GB for use as media player). Searched for three days for an audio player which plays my local playlists flawlessly. GMMD is the App I was looking for. It just made my day!

So this is how a good music player sounds like. The options are more than enough. But I think the implementation of the default ReplayGain value (0.0 dB) for songs without RG tags should be improved. I still find myself adjusting volumes to some of the tracks (e.g. Panic at the Disco, current track on default volume, to The Clash, next track needs volume increased).

Began to play and... no pause button! UNINSTALLED.

Why is it that all the apps with pretty UI's don't have gapless playback? The only player I've tried where gapless playback actually works is one with a lot more basic UI. Most music I listen to needs gapless play so this is a deal breaker.

Well I love this music player and have had it for a while now. A couple of things that are slight issues are, for example, stuttering when switching songs. I would love for the transition to be fast and smooth but it stutters for most part.

The best music player to work with a large library. No lagging when loading large amount of files. Low power consumption. Thank you for the good work.
