One of the most important steps in learning the guitar, which is often overlooked because it is a challenging and somewhat tedious task, is learning the position of all notes on the guitar fretboard. With this knowledge and a little music theory it can really expand your ability to play the guitar.
Chords are a collection of notes usually sounded at the same time. Learning the position of the notes helps you identify chords easily and allows you, by knowing the notes in the chord, to play them in different positions on the neck. Fretboard knowledge also means that you will understand scales much better and will allow you to play them in alternative ways moving up and down the fretboard, rather than staying within the traditional shapes. This will be a big advantage when moving onto improvisation as it will allow much more freedom in your playing.
The main aim of the program is to help develop your knowledge of the guitar fretboard, using standard tuning. Once the application is running notes are randomly generated on the screen, together with the string to use. You will then need to locate this note on the guitar neck and play it. By using the application for a few minutes each day it is possible to quickly learn all of the notes on the fretboard.

Recently changed in this version:
Changed how the interval between notes is entered in the program. Instead of using seconds the program now uses beats per minute (BPM) to set a tempo. Previously a second was the shortest interval which could be entered, however, the program now offers much more flexibility and much quicker intervals can be entered by setting the appropriate value.
Fixed an issue which sometimes happened when a single string or single note was selected.
