iShala is an Android/iPhone/iPad app that can be used as a tabla machine, a lehra player and/or an electronic tanpura. These are small machines that provide rhythmic/melodic accompaniment to people practicing Indian music, or just jamming on any other musical style. Featured instruments are Tabla, Harmonium and Tanpura. You can select to play one or all of them, and they will automatically synchronize together (apart from Tanpura that is meant to follow its own cycle).

I dont want to disregard the comments of unhappy users, but I've used this app live for a few years now, to accompany Sitar and it does what I need.

The taals are not following patterns. Some of the beats squeeze up.

Tabla is out of sync and losses rhythm and laya needs improvement and update for this bug. Though features are there but recording with background music will be great. Also please fix tabla.

It's strange that you can't fine tune tanpura properly..first you need to go inside properties..and then you can only increase frequency..can't bring it down by even one cent..I play flute and this limitation has totally disappointed me..fine tuning is a fundamental requirement for indian classical music..I wish if I could return this software..and get my money back..

This app is useful, but lots of small annoyances limit its potential. Number 1 among these is the embellishments played on the tabla! These are TOTALLY UNNECESSARY and there really NEEDS to be an option to turn them off. Aside from being distracting (they are automatic and obviously are not going to be timed well to match singing/instrumental practice) they are totally inappropriate for tabla prac
