No-frills podcast client
Podcasts are perfect little audio nuggets of info and/or entertainment to enjoy whilst on the metro or cleaning the house. There's a podcast to cater to just about any interest, from learning Swahili to great historical speeches. Knufficast lets you search for the podcasts you want, download them to your device, and listen to them anytime, anywhere.
No bells and whistles here, which is exactly what you want with a podcast client (or "Podcatcher"). Look up a podcast that you've found elsewhere by name and add desired episodes to your download queue. You can set the app to only download when you have access to wifi, which I'd definitely recommend. Downloaded episodes are available in your library whenever you like without having to use any data at all. Sound quality was completly great on the podcasts I tried.
There's built in flattr support if you'd like to thank the creators of the podcasts for the work with a little dough. The app itself is free of ads.
It's not designed for podcast discovery; you really need to know the name of what you're looking for in order to get started. It would be great to see a way to browse podcasts by category; however, there are heaps of sites online designed for precisely that purpose.
If there's a podcast or two you enjoy, Knufficast is an ideal client for playing them whenever and wherever you please.Developer's original description available here

Every audio app I use on Android will pause if the phone rings, except this app! Otherwise, a robust app that does everything expected of it.
Excellent app on my GS3 just a few changes would make it 5 stars for me. When a call comes in the podcast keeps playing so I'm always fumbling to open app and pause before answering phone. Ability to use pause button on headphones would be nice as well. Also, maybe when you press and hold a file it should ask what position you want to move it to instead of drag and drop. Which is tedious when
Downcast for iOS would be well served to reflect on the straightforwardness of Knufficast. Download versus Stream Now aside - it feels like a properly opinionated app for your mobile device. And the icon is cute, too.
