Kishore Kumar (Bengali: কিশোর কুমার গাঙ্গুলী; 4 Aug 1929 –13 Oct 1987), born Abhas Kumar Ganguly was a popular Indian film playback singer. He is also known as an actor, lyricist, composer, producer, director, screenwriter & scriptwriter. Kishore Kumar sang in many Indian languages including Bengali, Hindi, Marathi, Assamese, Gujarati, Kannada, Bhojpuri, Malayalam & Oriya. He won 8 Filmfare Awards for Best Male Playback Singer and holds the record for most number of Filmfare Awards won in that category. He was awarded the "Lata Mangeshkar Award" by the Madhya Pradesh government & from that year onwards, the Madhya Pradesh Government initiated a new award called the "Kishore Kumar Award" for contributions to Hindi cinema.
Mohammad Rafi (Urdu: محمد رفیع; Dec 24, 1924 – July 31, 1980), was an Indian playback singer whose career spanned four decades. He was awarded National Award and 6 Filmfare Awards. In 1967, he was honoured with the Padma Shri awarded by the Government of India
Kattassery Joseph Yesudas (born 10 Jan 1940) is an Indian classical musician and playback singer.Yesudas sings Indian classical, devotional, and popular music. He has recorded more than 50,000 songs in many languages including Malayalam,Tamil,Hindi,Kannada,Telugu,Bengali,Gujarati,Oriya,Marathi,Punjabi,Sanskrit,Tulu,Malay,Russian,Arabic,Latin & English during a career spanning 5 decades. He has performed in most Indian languages except Assamese,Konkani & Kashmiri. He also composed a number of Malayalam film songs in the 1970s&1980s. Yesudas is fondly called Gana Gandharvan (English:The Celestial Singer).He has won the National Award for the Best Male Playback Singer 7 times (the most by any Indian singer) & the State Award for the Best Playback Singer 43 times, which consists of awards by the state governments of Kerala,Tamil Nadu,Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka,& West Bengal. He was awarded Padma Shri in 1975 & Padma Bhushan in 2002 by the Government of India for his contributions to the arts.
In 2006, he sang 16 film songs in four South Indian languages on the same day at AVM Studio, Chennai.
Manhar Udhas is Hindi and Gujarati language singer. He has given voice for many Hindi movies as playback singer. He is the elder brother of singer Pankaj Udhas & Nirmal Udhas & has worked with Pankaj on albums & Live Shows. Manhar has worked with all the composers of the film world & has lent his voice for almost all the Bollywood heroes. Sung for more than 300 films - Gujarati,Punjabi,Bangali & many others. He, like his brother Pankaj, is well known for singing Ghazals.
Lata Mangeshkar pronunciation (born 28 Sept 1929) is an Indian singer, & occasional music-composer. She is one of the best-known & most respected playback singers in India.Mangeshkar's career started in 1942 & has spanned over 6&1/2 decades. She has recorded songs for over a thousand Hindi films & has sung songs in over 36 regional Indian languages & foreign languages, though primarily in Hindi. She is the elder sister of singer Asha Bhosle,Hridayanath Mangeshkar,Usha Mangeshkar & Meena Mangeshkar. She is the 2nd vocalist to have ever been awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour.
Mangeshkar was featured in the Guinness Book of World Records from 1974 to 1991 for having made the most recordings in the world. The claim was that she had recorded approximately 25,000 solo,duet, & chorus-backed songs in 20 Indian languages between 1948 to 1974.
