Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald was an American author of novels and short stories, whose works are the paradigm writings of the Jazz Age, a term he coined himself. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest American writers of the 20th century. Fitzgerald is considered a member of the "Lost Generation" of the 1920s. Fitzgerald wrote many short stories that treat themes of youth and promise along with despair and age.

“Porcelain and Pink” is a comic one-act play from the 1922 short story collection Tales of the Jazz Age. The plot involves a young woman in a bathtub and a case of mistaken identity.
"Head and Shoulders" was first published in The Saturday Evening Post, with the help of Fitzgerald's agent, Harold Ober. It later appeared in his short story collection Flappers and Philosophers. It tells the story of a young prodigy at Yale who falls for a spirited dancer in spite of himself.
"The Four Fists" is also a short story first published in 1920 in Fitzgerald's short story collection Flappers and Philosophers.
