The official CNN app for Android has just landed.
This is the official -and free- CNN app for Android. It comes up a bit late since we’ve had a dozen of non-official CNN apps for a long time., however, it seems that the official CNN developing team have been used fully to launch one of those must-have app that overtakes the rest of existing apps. CNN app for Android is aiming to be the “smartest and sleekest way to experience a world of news and insights”. And, from our point of view, is quite close to achieve it. Let’s take a glance at its main features.
First, we may check the Headlines by selecting the Top Stories (International), the area (U.S., Europe, Middle-East, Asia...) or the issue category we are more interest in (Business, Sports, Travel,...). By clicking in one of the headlines we may have access to all the news content: text-based reports, videos, photos, live updates and many others resources from the news network. Moreover, you may set your own profile and mark your current location to get some local info about weather, news and events taking places around. You may also save those reports you liked or those which you want to check thoroughly later. Besides browsing the news by content, you may also do it by format: radio or video. That means you will be able to listen CNN radio live programs or browser in its database stories, interviews, podcast and so on. Likewise you may browse news by video: the CNN’s video database is organized by categories (world, most popular, sport, business, etc). The amount of resources available is just impressive. And it becomes even wider thanks to features like the iReport section, which is basically a channel that allows individual users to work as amateur journalist by submitting photos and videos through the app. That means getting real news from the witnesses.
It brings a simple but useful 1x4 desktop widget that will show the headlines of the category we are interested in. The widget though could be improved by allowing us to choose more than one category or by showing direct link to the media resources.
CNN for Android works on a user-friendly interface, fast and easy. We are just amazed about how fast it loads videos and audio files, and how easy is to get all the content in a few clicks. We have to recognise that CNN developers have done their job well, even exceeding all the expectations, and, from our point of view, overtaking the non-official CNN apps that are already in the market. For this reason, we truly recommend you to give it a try if you are one of those who want to be up-to-date about what’s going on in the world from reliable sources.

This is the best. I have used all news apps and this is the best .I nave 2 tablets (galaxies 7in and 10 in) and android phone and it has the best quality on all. I cant find anything wrong. It has no problems loading to different tabs or phone. Great job.
Worst new user interface ever. Big needless pictures cause the view to be even less for actual news. Can only see two headlines at a time.
I enjoyed the old UI better. It was easier to browse through articles to the ones I was interested in reading, now its a full page massacre. I can't even find it through apps ! I guess it's supposed to be a widget now F THAT!
Love the newly designed UI. However, I have noticed that there are empty spaces on both sides of the screen. I hope in the next update, the app will take advantage of the whole screen.
Divide your screen in thirds. Any one tile is two-thirds of the screen. Tiles are news and image, or an ad. This means you're limited to two news stories max if you scroll to the right places - not enough when the old view was probably six all the time. T
The update sucks. Im dumping the app.
Used to like the CNN app, what the heck happened? This is horrible.
