Meet the KQED Android app. We built it with your need-to-know, on-the-go lifestyle in mind. It's the best of KQED Public Radio, Television, and KQED.org content — in an easy to use format.

The app enables you to listen to KQED Public Radio wherever you are — including newscasts, locally produced shows such as Forum and The California Report, and NPR favorites like Fresh Air and All Things Considered — both on demand and via live streaming.

The KQED app also makes it easy to read our popular local blogs including News Fix, Bay Area Bites, MindShift and KQED Arts. There's even an arts events calendar, so you won't miss another '80s zombie movie night in the park.

And because our television programs look dynamite on an Android device, you watch Check, Please! Bay Area, KQED's restaurant review program, while you're waiting for your table to be called. Or QUEST, our exploration of California science and nature in and around the Bay Area, while you're camping!

When you're out and about, the app also helps you keep track of member events and take advantage of KQED Perks. You'll be surprised at how many discounts and special offers are nearby.

KQED Android App overview:

KQED's award-winning food, arts, and science coverage
On-the-go access to member benefits

    1) if you have spotty service the audio will cut out. Even though it says its still playing. 2) if you pause, its still processing the audio so its almost as if you never stopped listening... According to the cries from my batter. 3) OK search and liste

I am a KQED "addict". This app is disappointing since it crashes a lot. In addition if a call comes in when the streaming is playing the app restarts from the place you started listening instead of suspending and restarting where the streaming was interru

Extremely spotty- whenever an internet connection is interrupted, have to close the app and reopen it. As I mostly use the app during a commute, this is extraordinarily inconvenient and reduces the app's utility immensely. Not recommended if you have anot

I'm a KQED subscriber, and I'm bummed every time this app crashes. The crashing is unpredictable, but it happens. Often.

Am glad to finally see a KQED Android app. Remember, it's new. Give it a chance to get better. :) I'll be using this instead of TuneIn, since kqed is what i listen to mostly.

I run 90-120 minutes every other day and KQED keeps me going. My old phone had a radio and it was all hunky-dory. My Samsung Galaxy S3 does not, so I downloaded this app about 4 months back. It's really interesting how the app functions. I start this one
