No matter how fast software advances, it seems that we will have hardware issues for a long time, because manufacturers are dealing with odd profit margins and even odder off-shore policies. Therefore, hardware hasn't advanced as much as we'd like and it's been left as an also-ran in comparison with always-updated software. It's no surprise that smart developers have make the most of what Android can bestow and make useful apps for those who need them. This Lock Screen is a nice example, as it provides an on-screen button replacing (it would be better to say in addition to it, though) the power on/off hardware button. You know, that you have to push umpteen times a day and is so prone to stop working properly. It won't be of much help to turn your device on, but at least you have solved how to turn your screen off.

It comes with a straightforward menu and a clean interface. There's even a uninstall assistant (it may be difficult to uninstall it as-is because of the permissions asked), it's free and ad-free.

An additional creative use of this app would be to keep it always on-screen (see menu) and have it as an ultra fast "boss key". In the end of the day, a useful app proving that not all are fancy games and hipster stuff, but there's also room for those apps taking care of our experience as smartphone users.
