THE VERDICT

Don't snub Google Play Books just because it may come automatically installed on your device (you hipster you) - it's been named as Lifehacker's current favorite mobile eReader on the market. We're talking cross-platform support and syncing out the wazoo, for Android, iOS, the web, phones, tablets, you name it - a massive advantage over other eReaders. Heaps of customization options don't get in the way of the simple pleasure of immersing yourself in a good read.

THE PROS

It's free, free, free, and free. Upload any ePUB or PDF books to your personal library and they'll automatically sync across all your devices, so you can pick up where you left off anytime, anywhere. Definitions, Wikipedia information, and other search results are super easy to access within the app. You can even purchase or rent books from Google's massive library, ranging from NYT bestsellers to textbooks.

THE CONS

It can't read anything that's not ePUB or PDF, so grab a converter for other file formats.
