Moon Reader (or Moon Plus Reader) is a super simple and free eBook reader that includes an offline dictionary. It's extremely basic and stark in design, but includes pretty much full functionality that you need in order to enjoy texts in many different file formats (epub, pdf, mobi, chm, cbr, cbz, umd, fb2, txt, html, rar, zip, and OPDS - the only one missing is PDF). Customize the reading experience with regards to font type, screen brightness, and even scroll speed. Add highlights and notes in various colors for easy reference. The design is a bit brutish in comparison to its competition, but it's a solid, reliable, lightweight choice.
Highly customizable. The offline dictionary is a boon. No ads in the pro version. Reads many different file formats.
Free version won't read PDFs. Design a little outdated.
Original review from Aug 25, 2014:
Congratulations! You've reached Moon Reader, an ebook reader app which is absolutely excellent in every way.
Concerned about file type? Moon Reader tackles epub, pdf, mobi, chm, cbr, cbz, umd, fb2, txt, html, rar, zip, and OPDS formats. What about formatting text size? Not only that, but also font type and screen brightness, plus a night mode for under-the-covers reading bliss. Scroll just how you please, whether by tapping or setting an automatic speed, horizontally or vertically. Highlighting and looking up words in the dictionary is as easy as a long tap wherever you like.
In the pro version, you won't see any ads (although they really aren't very intrusive in the free version either), and you'll also get access to text-to-speech conversion, plus a ton more customization options.
There's really nothing more you could ask from an e-reader, other than that it fixes you a glass of warm milk at night. Moon Reader is ideal, and highly recommended.
