ALTitude is a Google Latitude updater designed to minimize the battery drain and replace Latitude.

Make sure to "Enable location sharing" in GMaps settings and set "Location Reporting" to "location manually selected on the map" so that you can keep using Latitude to locate your friends on the map without having the energy overhead of Latitude.

*Sadly Latitude is being discontinued by Google. As a result I have retired the donate version*

ALTitude relies an OAuth2 for authentication against Google Latitude and does not store any username or password.

No luck to run this app due to 2 step authentication not handled properly here.

On my nexus 4 it uses GPS all the time. Even when precision is set to 5km. Drains battery within hours

This is basically a less convenient, less feature-rich and more costly version of backitude. Costly in price since it costs money to unlock app options and remove ads, and resource costly at 27mb RAM versus 8mb. Which also equates to poor battery effici

DROID x here. Works great, no issues. If you actively utilize latitude to keep track of friends, family, stalkers, etc, it works fantastically well. Needs a prettier UI and more verbose, logical options, but is otherwise great.
