"Everyone has something to say"

OnAir Labs has re-invented chat rooms with Talkbits, an Android app which allows users to have voice conversations with people nearby or anywhere in the world. The idea is quite easy and reminds ham radio. There's a stream you can hear other people talking (bottom). You will be able to take part in the conversation by pressing the mic button and leave your message.

What makes Talkbits such interesting is it's a cross-platform push-to-talk instant walkie-talkie messenger, which means that you will be able to chat with your friends, no matter if they own an iPhone and receive their messages with a push notification. In addition, you can open private or group chats, add your Facebook friends via Facebook connect and check conversation history. You can even send voice messages to geotagged channels in order to find nearby people you should know.

The app is set in a dark minimalistic layout, pretty easy to get the hang of it. Message delivery seems to work quite good over 3G and WiFi. Only two catches: group chats are kind of chaotic and it needs a larger users base.
