According to the late Morihiro Saito sensei, Aikido counter technique training, or Kaeshi Waza, was shown by Aikido founder Morihei Ueshiba only to his most prominent students, and then in strict secrecy. It was regarded as a preparation for Aikido instructors who would want to be seen as undefeatable and able to maintain leadership under difficult training situations.

Here you will find a collection of fifteen counter techniques based on commonly practised forms, each example comprising a text description illustrated with screenshots and two video clips each shot from a different angle.
