This innovative Android App features a zoomable, scrollable and bang up-to-date version of the highly successful SkiRail Map of the Alps, which was launched for the 2011 season.
The map, which covers the entire Alpine area, shows every resort in the Alps, from classic Alpine resorts across Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Slovenia and Switzerland to lesser-known places which attract few visitors beyond the local region, and which offer uncrowded slopes and a rewarding cultural experience.
Uniquely, the map also shows the rail network throughout the Alps, and how to reach the resorts by train. High speed rail lines and sleeper train services are highlighted. Airports with stations and major rail tunnels are also shown, together with mountain railways and connecting cable cars. In addition, over 120 resorts, that are fully accessible by rail, are highlighted and a wealth of information provided on the services they offer, from the types of run and ski extent to information on vertical drop, ski lifts and glacier and cross-country skiing.
A small scale map is also included showing rail routes to the Alps from surrounding European countries, with approximate journey times, assisting travellers with planning their route to the region.
The original SkiRail Map of the Alps is on sale from Roger Lascelles (Maps) Ltd and from most good bookstores, and is available both as a handy folded map and wall map. The folded map comes with an accompanying 40-page factfile giving more information on skiing by train and the various resorts. Purchasers of the Android App can now receive a 25% discount on the folded map. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you wish to receive this discount.
