- Too much learning curve
- Screentouch response should be enhanced
ETAOI Keyboard is an original way to input based on ETAOI (internationally most used letters)
First off, we want you to know that this isn't an easy keyboard to handle, at least not in the beginning. Actually, it requires power of will, otherwise you'll drop it in the middle of the learning curve. Those who achieved it say that it's a really fast-typing keyboard. I guess I'm a conservative in this regard, but I'll stay on QWERTY.
Anyway, it's always nice discovering new keyboards with original input system. ETAOI Keyboard is made up by just 5 colored keys. Its original input system allows you to input letters, numbers, punctuation and even emojis by sliding right/left, up/down. No one can discuss that this is a native mobile keyboard. The only catch lies on most of the users are use to QWERTY or similar keyboards and are reluctant to change. This is for the bravest.
There's both a free demo version (with some punctuation and other perfomance restriction) and a paid one ($1.99). Although we encourage everyone to give it a go and accept the challenge, we cannot rate it as well as others because it doesn't makes users' life easier, not in the beginning at least. And that's matters. What's more, screentouch response should be enhanced, we had some mistypings.
DESIGNED FOR TOUCHSCREENS
5-Tiles takes only a fraction of your phone's display. The keys are large and easy to reach. It can be used with just your thumb.
Letters has been grouped based on the familiar, alphabet layout. The most common ones are typed using single taps. Others: using slides between two or more keys.
Which letters to tap? All underlined characters.
How to know which way to slide? Find the key with a letter you want to type. Touch it. The keyboard will show you where to next!
Results: intuitive, easy to follow characters’ order. Efficient input. Less typing errors.
LEARNING THE KEYBOARD
The keyboard can be used with or without (multi-language) dictionaries. To switch the dictionaries on/off, use the combination of yellow-blue-green. With the dictionaries active, the keyboard “learns” your writing patterns to improve autosuggestion options. You can also add your own words to the dictionaries’ memory.
Type using national characters. Languages currently supported: English, French, German, Italian, Polish, Spanish and Swedish.
Edit text and issue commands: move between text input fields, highlight, copy and paste, even control your phone's ringing mode!
Training with 5-TILES – learn to type with easy-to-follow, short lessons. Additional tutorials available for unique national characters.
Speed test – dramatically improve your typing pace practising on the most common words and pangrams.
– Portuguese characters added
– Fixed Delete problem
– Dictionaries (yellow-blue-green)

This keyboard reminds me a lot of 8pen. Unfortunately there's a steep learning curve here and I highly doubt this is going to result in faster typing.
Very original and functional. Now you can see what you type without a big keyboard in the way.
Can't beat the size! Love learning mode. Wish it had auto capitalization and word prediction. Looking forward to updates
new update very nice, I like especially Thumb mode, it's much better and easily to write now and a new skin. I think etaoi can easily compete with swype and swiftkey right now. Good work!
I LIKE , WORKS WELL , GOOD DESIGN ! THX. ★★★★★
I just wish the numbers and symbols were easier to access and it had text predictions
