"Disk guts"

DiskUsage provides a way to monitor files and directories on storage

Maybe you're wondering why you would need that. Well, it allows you to know which files/resources consume lots of space. DisUsage tracks your apps and folders and displays a diagram which shows their size.

First off, DiskUsage let you choose the view: app storage, SDcard or "root required". The latter allows you to explore only-root access folders like /cache, /data, /dev, etc. After making your choice, DiskUsage scans your directory and then shows the diagram. You can zoom in/out by pinching. Press MENU for actions: from there you can rescan, show hardware renderer view and apply filters.

From my point of view, most useful info that provides the app is the difference between .apk size and data size in each app. This way you can see how much data generates one app. It even displays dalvikCache allocated for your apps on your data partition.

Sincerely, this is for medium or rather high profile users who are concerned about their apps and storage usage. Layout is simple but it's still useful.

3.4.2: Support for KitKat Android and extfat.

- Bug fix: support large application data and don't report it as "System data"

- Fixes for Nexus 10
- Display cache for applications. Sorry for didn't spotting this earlier, missing cache was causing huge amount of space displayed as system data for some users.
- New Astro can't be launched from DiskUsage, so removed it from the list of supported file managers. Older Astro should work fine.

It's a really unfortunate side effect of how Android works that you just have to check space sometimes, but this get worse the more you delve into Android's weird, powerful features. This app does a bang-up job of showing you what's taking up space, it's

Was struggling to see which app uses all the space, but this app solved it all by pointing to where the problem was. Really useful, clear interface.
