Lux is a custom auto-brightness app that adjust it depending on the brightness of your environment
Smartphones screens are now larger while batteries don't keep it up. For this reason, we need to make an effort by keeping track of those features that leak battery most. The jewel of the crown of battery draining is, of course, screen brightness. Lux is an app that comes to automatize brightness preferences depending on the environment.
It works by linking the brightness of your surroundings (ambient light) with the brightness of your device's display. The ambien light is obtained via the light sensor installed on your device (usually above the display). From the dashboard you can produce linked samples (profiles), toggle astronomer and night modes and access to preferences.
Likewise, you can create different levels depending on the amount of ambient light that camera catches, which is quite util for a more accurate performance. There are other extra features like: keeping the brightness 100% while charging, a handy widget for an easy management (enable/disable automatic mode, switch between profiles, etc.)
The main catch is that its free version is almost a demo since it is quite restricted. Anyway, the app is worth and if after giving it a go you like it, you can upgrade to the paid version which costs just AU $1.49.
Please note that this is the free version of Lux. For the full version please click the following link. Purchasing the full version supports further development of Lux, and is truly appreciated.
Lux isn't your ordinary brightness app. It intelligently adjusts the brightness of your display based on the environment you're in. If, for example, you step into a dimly lit room, Lux will automatically lower the brightness of your display to make it not only comfortable to read, but to also preserve battery power.
Lux provides the option to automatically adjust the backlight at fixed intervals (periodic mode), when a change in environment is detected (dynamic mode), or when the phone wakes from sleep. It's also possible to adjust the backlight manually. Simply disable automatic mode and you can use it like a traditional brightness tool!
Perhaps the best thing about Lux is that you can teach it how to behave. If the backlight is too bright or dim for your liking, simply open the provided Dashboard, adjust the brightness slider to the level you desire, then hold the link button. Lux will use this new 'link' as a reference in future.

This app used to work but the last to versions dont work at all. Also the developer wont support xperia s which does have a light sensor despite what people think. By the way it doesnt work on my hero either.
Free mode doesn't allow any methods of tweaking the defaults, and it puts my sgsiii into 'wtf blinding' mode in anything other than a pitch black room. Not worth messing with - too limited. Not gonna buy paid version - if I wanted the back light at 110% a
Sgs3 auto brightness sucks. And this app fix it. Awesome.
This is the installed app used most on by phone. I love the fact it does all the adjustments on its own and it works consistently on my TBolt!
Rely on this app too much now
It actually work pretty well and i like it far better than the default auto brightness of android. But it uses 20% of my battery everyday! Cant stand that..had to uninstall.
