There are lots of scanners, although not all of them allows you to scan QR, UPC, EAN and ISBN codes like this one does. This would be a powerful reason to make it your default Android code scanner. However, it contains other worthy features that make it overtaking some of its competitors.
One of the features we liked most is that when scanning a QR code that contains a URL it automatically takes you to the site, no need to tap on the URL like in other scanners. That small detail makes the difference. What's more, "Scan" keep track of your scanned codes in a history log. This history log can be sync and checked from your browser account if you sign up on their website. If you tap on your history log entries you can check where you scanned the code in a map.
From settings you can customize how Scan works: beep when scanning, vibrate when scanning or add scan.me account. Well, it's simple regarding customization but, what else do you expect from a code scanner?
There's no home menu, launching the app meaning launching the scanner: fast and simple. Recommendable.
When scanning a QR Code, if the code contains a website URL, you'll automatically be taken to the site. If the code just contains text, you'll immediately see it. For other formats such as phone numbers, email addresses, or contact info, you will be prompted to take the appropriate action.**
Scan now reads regular barcodes—UPC, EAN, and ISBN—and gathers information about the products you scan, allowing you to research and find places to purchase the products you love.
Additional Features:
- History logs and displays of all of your past scans in a list or on a map
- Customize how Scan works in Settings
- Login to your Scan.me account to sync your scan history across web, Android, and iOS
- Touch-focus camera (requires autofocus)
- Forward-facing light for low-light scanning (requires flash)
** In order to use Scan, your device must have a built-in camera. When scanning codes that redirect to online content (such as websites), you will need Internet connectivity. To scan product barcodes, your device must have autofocus.
The company behind Scan is dedicated to your satisfaction and is always open to your feedback. If you have an issue with Scan, please do not write a review of the app saying "it didn't work" — this does not help us improve the app. Instead, please contact us at support@scan.me and we'll do our best to help. It works well, I just wish it was faster. I have tried other scanners and find them to be a bit faster. I'll keep this one though since I think it's nice to have more then one scanning app in case you run into trouble with one of them.
