Visual Traceroute

Visual Traceroute will show you, on a map, the path your data travels to any server in the world. Very easy to use, just enter the server's name and press go.

Visual Traceroute will use the 'ping' command available on most devices to determine the path your data travels, and will then use a database to look up the geographic location of this path. If your device is rooted, Visual Traceroute will use 'nmap' instead of 'ping', which provides for better and faster (UDP based) host detection.

Some routers block 'ping' (ICMP), and you will need a rooted device in this case. Some devices do not have 'ping' installed on them, and you will need a rooted device in this case too. The app will notify you in this case.

Note: if your device is rooted, the app will ask if you wish to give it root access. This is used to try and get better results. When asked, you CAN deny the app root access and use the standard 'ping' method - it will work fine without root in most cases.

Visual Traceroute is supported by adverts by admob, however these adverts are placed in discrete positions and should not cause you any issues. An ad-free version will be available in the upcoming 'Anti Android Network Toolkit' app launching soon.

Accuracy of IPs on the map: I am using the MaxMind GeoLite City database, which should have a 99.5% accuracy at country level, and a 40-80% accuracy at city level - unfortunately, the database is enormous and accuracy cannot be guaranteed. This product includes GeoLite data created by MaxMind, available from
