A quick look at the existing online navigators reveals that they fail to find, if at all, the optimal path between specific places within campus for their lack of detail and creativity in searching. On the other hand, K-NAVI will find the shortest route, which may include a shortcut through buildings, the hill, or a shuttle bus route that other online navigators have not taken into their navigation results. More specifically, K-NAVI understands that there are many different ways of traveling in campus: walking, riding a bike, or taking an OLEV shuttle bus. These different options will be, respectively, incorporated into finding the shortest path between places and displayed for the user to choose his or her preferred way of reaching the destination.
As a result, K-NAVI aims to offer improved functions of other online navigators in terms of not only finding the optimized path between two places within the campus but also enabling the user to compare the possible paths based on different ways of traveling. After finding the optimized path and way of traveling, real-time navigation will be available to guide the user toward the destination. As an additional objective, K-NAVI will also provide real-time indoor navigation for two buildings in the KAIST campus.
